No excuses

I do not have any (good) excuse this time...I did not post during the last 5 months because I did not want.

But today I have time and I would like to share a couple of tips :)

Prioritize: Set your prioritites and discuss/agree them with your key stakeholder (either at work or at home).

Focus: We all want to have/do almost everything; but this is impossible. After setting up your priorities focus only on the key ones.

Plan: When you know what you want, you need to decide how to do it! Some objectives hours, month and some of the many year...do not loos your faith!

Check this out, it may help ;-)

Do not forget "Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.'

Take care,
Albert

2014 SMART goals

Hello,
After a lot of running post and some general/personal information is time to start providing more useful information :)

We are starting a new exiting year and during the coming weeks we all should spend some time to define our 2014 goals (personal & profesional!).

Even if your boss/leader does not ask you to provide  such info, I personally encourage you all to do this exercises.

This will help you to track your progress during the entire year at the same time that is the best way to define 2014 expectations.

I did similar exercises during the last 5 years and I can only recommend it to everyone.

Make sure that you define your SMART* goals for 2014!

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time-bound

The Marathon!

What a day, what a race, what a city!

Everything was just perfect, the weather, the track, the company, the atmosphere and of course the effort done during the last 14 weeks!

Below you can see my pace (see the last 7 km/4 Miles, just crazy :P)

Official final time: 3h24m48s (5m12s faster than expected!)

So far, the best race of my life :)

Now it time to relax, chill-out and starting thinking in the new goals.

Any suggestion?

PS. Below a couple of nice pics of the runners!

2 days, 2 hours, 41 minutes....

And yes, here I am. In NY "ready" to run my second Marathon (http://www.ingnycmarathon.org)!

My only (and real) goal is to finish the race (if you ever ran a Marathon you will probably understand why...). But this ocasion I will try to improve my previous time (4h2m - Marathon Amsterdam'2010).
--> Personal target is ~ 3h30m, but I will be more than happy if I can stop the clock  ~ 3h40m as well!

I know that I did not update this blog during the last months, but now that I have new laptop :) (new MacBook Pro) and that I will have more time (no more trainings...uuueeee) I hope I will have the time to update you with some interesting posts (or at least I will try!).

FYI, find below link to the training schedule that I followed during the last months:

2 days, 2 hours, 25 minutes....

#GiveFirst

One of the most important ideas in our most important cast for careers - Building A Network - is the idea of giving first.   Even if you don’t ever think your efforts will be reciprocated, giving first is the way to develop a foundation for a relationship.

Here’s three ways to give first, even to people you don’t know yet:

Smile.  Smiling is a universal human greeting.  It says ‘I’m pleased to meet you and I want our interaction to be a good one’.  You can even smile on the phone and it’ll change the interaction.

Be gracious.  When someone apologizes for holding you up, or their computer being slow, or cuts in front of you in line, be gracious. Tell them, ‘it’s fine, I have that problem all the time’ or ‘don’t worry, I have time’.  It takes tension out of the situation, and that’s a kind thing to do.

Give a compliment.  As you end an interaction, give a compliment.  My favorite is ‘thank you for making that easy for me’, but I also use ‘thank you for being patient with my questions’.    Again, it takes any tension out of the conversation and leaves the person with a positive feeling about you.

Even if you don’t care yourself about the ‘warm fuzzies’ (I don’t either!) giving first will increase the number of positive interactions you have.  Try it and let us know how it goes.
